Hey everyone! You know, Disney has come a long way since I grew up, especially the fashion. Its moved far beyond sparkly princess tees and Mickey Mouse shirts.

D*Signed is Disney’s new(ish) fashion brand which features awesome clothes inspired by characters in their popular new TV serieses. At the moment, its all about Austin and Ally. Or more specifically – Ally Dawson.

Ally has an awesome style, its quite vintage and feminine. And because of D*Signed, its really easy to pick up a few key pieces from Target to build your own Ally wardrobe.

Heres how to dress the part:

Tip 1!

Ally uses that age old fashion technique of layering to excellent effect. She almost always tops off an outfit with a cardigan or a vest. Layering like this really helps to bring a look together. If you do it right, you go from flat to FAB just like that!

Tip 2!

Color ! Color !! Color!!! You can do so much with color! Ally’s style is very vintage chic and is all about muted, darker shades like raspberry and dusty rose and mustard. No hot pink, neon green or anything like that.

Tip 3!

Accessorise! Like layering, what you do with accessories can take your outfit to the next level. Vintage jewelry is the accessory of choice here. Skip the beads and bright plastics. Aim for tastefully understated and you will look great!

Choice Pieces:

The BEST tan is a FAKE tan.

Salon tan, DIY spray or tanning lotions – these are all much better options than deliberately getting sunburnt. My personal favourite (and probably the cheapest and easiest option) is the tinted moisturisers. There are plenty of all over body moisturisers that will leave you with glowing bronzed skin.

Some beginner tan application tips:

• Make sure you exfoliate and scrub before you apply tan, otherwise you will end up with patchy bits as the tan will sink in more on dry skin.

• Read the instructions carefully – some DIY sprays go on clear… I expected to tan immediately the first time I did it, and oversprayed…!

• Do a very light application first and try for evenness. We are aiming for natural looking, so its good to go gradually.

• Don’t do your face!! For the face, use a tinted moisturiser. I love BB cream. Its an all-in-one cream that combines sunscreen, moisturiser and tinting so it really evens out your complexion and makes you look tanned without the ouch-sunburn factor.

Unfortunately spray/tanning lotions don’t really smell very good, but they work really well. You can keep a tan all year long and maintenance is much easier than sun tanning.

Tanning lotions, DIY spray tans, tinted moisturisers and BB cream are relatively inexpensive and easy to find from places like Target, Kmart or your local store.

Fashion Playtes is improving their selection all the time and adding more and more styles and options for embellishment. They have so many options, but even that can get boring after a while, so I went looking for other places that let you play fashion designer. Here are a few I found:

Converse

Converse are always in fashion. I tried out the customiser and had a lot of fun – you can choose between loads of different colours and prints and change almost everything on the shoe.

Zazzle

Zazzle is great for basic things like t-shirts and they do shoes very similar to converse. Once again almost everything on the shoe is customisable and you can upload your own images. This has HUGE potential. I love taking photos, especially using Instagram. With Zazzle I can take photos of my dog or a pretty flower and turn it into a t-shirt!

I’m not really that excited about the clothes this time – the clothing style is definitely maturing (only natural I suppose) and is starting to look more teenage than tweenage.  That being said, I think I am in love with Dream Out Loud just for the accessories and the jewellery!  Take this adorable necklace for example:

I love what Selena does with sweet and girly accents like feathers and doves!  Don’t forget to have a look at the huge range of sunglasses too.

Dream Out Loud is definitely a line for the girly girls out there.  Stick with the accessories and jewellery though – Selena has rocked those!

PS.  I nearly forgot!  DoL is still extremely affordable.  Just about everything is under $15 – $20.  Its worth saving up your pocket money for!
